Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Columbus, Georgia
Contract Length: 24 weeks

Position Overview

• Specialty: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics
• Patient Population: Infants to Geriatrics (primarily adult RRT, with pediatric intubated patients)
• Facility Type: Level 2 trauma center, interventional stroke certified, Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
• Work Setting: Manages non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial lines, oxygen management, patient education, arterial and capillary blood gases, line draws
• Trauma experience required
• Pulmonary function testing (Spirometry) preferred
• Unit Systems: Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea
• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 - 7:00)
• Floating: Yes, within facility and sister campus as needed
• Weekends: Every other weekend
• Call: None
• Holidays: Required to work major holidays if they fall during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
• RTO (Return to Office) window: Maximum 7 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Orientation and Compliance

• Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance results in a 2-week delay due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
• Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)

Health and Background Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days prior to start, including education verification and criminal history
• Physical exam required within 12 months prior to start
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
• TB testing (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months; if positive, additional documentation required
• Annual TB questionnaire required regardless of TB status
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented:

  • 2 MMR vaccines or positive titers for Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
  • Flu vaccine or signed declination (strongly encouraged during flu season)
• Tdap vaccine highly recommended but not required

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist updated within 12 months
• Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof of processing)
• Two clinical references required
• Color blindness test required; alternative assessment available if needed
• Competency exams required by agency (not client) for medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG as applicable

Scheduling Blackout Dates

• Night shift blackout: June (full month), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
• Day shift blackout: June (full month), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th
