Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Patient Population
- Infants to Geriatrics (Primarily Adult RRT but includes Pediatric intubated patients)
Shift Details
- Night Shift
- 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 to 7:00)
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend required
- Floating within facility and sister campus as needed
Facility & Work Environment
- Level 2 trauma center
- Interventional stroke certified
- Level 3 NICU (regional transport resource)
- Uses Epic, Pyxis, SBAR, Viasys Vela, GE Carescape, Viasys Avea systems
- Scrub color: Slate Gray
- Trauma experience required
- Pulmonary function testing (Spirometry) preferred
- Responsibilities include managing non-invasive and conventional ventilation, aerosol therapy, bedside pulmonary function tests, arterial lines, oxygen management, patient education, arterial and capillary blood gases, and line draws
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Georgia
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS
Orientation & Compliance
- Maximum Return to Office (RTO) time: 7 days
- Full compliance with all requirements needed to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length
Blackout Dates (No shifts available)
- Night Shift: June (full month), July 5th-31st, August 1st-2nd
- Day Shift: June (full month), July 15th-31st, August 1st-9th
Holidays
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler must work it
- If 2 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler must work both
- If 3 major holidays fall during assignment, traveler must work 2 of them
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
Call Requirements
- None
Required Documentation & Health Compliance
- Background check completed within 30 days prior to start (including education verification and criminal searches)
- State of Georgia RRT license verification within 30 days prior to start
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if history of positive TB)
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
- Work history verification of most recent employer (can be pending at start with proof running)
- Two clinical references required
Competency Exams & Testing
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required by agency)
- Color blind testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for relevant specialties)
- Other competency exams as applicable
Additional Notes
- Floating may be required between main facility and sister campus
- Locals accepted at same rate
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies including Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with at least 1 year of experience, who hold the required Georgia license and certifications, and are comfortable working in a trauma and NICU environment with a primarily adult patient population but some pediatric exposure. Prior travel experience is not required.
