Registered Nurse - Ambulatory Care (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Francisco, California
Shift: Day (5x8 hours), 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Ambulatory Care setting at Mission Bay with 8-hour day shifts.
  • Ability to float to other facilities within the system.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum 1 year of Ambulatory Care experience, with such experience within the last year.
  • Neurology experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Current and valid government photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, or US Passport) matching professional license.
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, Sex Offender Search, and Education Verification.
  • Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start including physician statement of fitness to work.
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required).
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (no declinations accepted except medical exemptions).
    • Two negative TB tests (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-Spot) with specific timing requirements.
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or declination (declination must be signed within 1 year).
    • Varicella: IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (history of disease not accepted).
  • Drug testing: Standard 9-panel (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years.
  • Annual TB questionnaire required within 30 days of start or if TB documentation is expiring.
  • Pass/fail Telemetry exam on first day for nurses in specified units.
  • Medication and unit-specific competency exams with passing score of 80% or higher, completed within 12 months prior to start.
  • Completion of core training modules (Core Part I, II, III) with passing scores, updated annually.
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing required for all RNs.

Additional Requirements

  • Two supervisory references required from most recent or second most recent employment.
  • Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30 days or more must be explained.
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually.
  • Ability to complete required learning modules prior to or during orientation.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 preparedness protocols and completion of related questionnaires prior to start.
  • Completion of cybersecurity awareness training and quizzes annually.
  • Completion of HIPAA healthcare provider modules and quizzes as applicable.
  • Flu vaccine or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-Apr).
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) may be required depending on unit.

  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
  • Telemetry (Tele) certification/testing is required for nurses working in specified telemetry and critical care units.
