Registered Nurse (Medical/Surgical/Telemetry) - Long Term Assignment

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday; must be willing to float to an alternate campus

Job Description

• Provide nursing care in Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
• Flexibility to float to a different campus as needed.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

• Valid RN license in Iowa.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.

Education

• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year of Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
• Neurology nursing experience.

Health & Safety Requirements

• Fit test for respiratory protection.
• 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
• COVID-19 vaccine proof including booster or approved exemption.
• Proof of MMR vaccination or immunity.
• Hepatitis B vaccination series initiated prior to start.
• Influenza vaccine proof or exemption (optional).
• 2-step PPD or IGRA TB test with chest x-ray if positive (per regional requirements).
• Varicella vaccination or immunity proof.
• Current physical/health statement confirming fitness to work.
• Current Tdap vaccine or approved declination if no pediatric interaction.

Background & Compliance

• Federal, nationwide, and county criminal background check covering the last 7 years, including SSN verification.
• Iowa-specific criminal history, sex offender, and dependent adult/child abuse registry checks.
• Education verification of highest academic degree or diploma.
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) and OIG (Office of Inspector General) exclusion checks.
• NSO (National Sex Offender) registry check.
• Conflict of interest disclosure form.
• Code of conduct form.
• Confidentiality and information security agreement.
• Integrity and audit services form.
• Non-employee upload form completed.
• System access form completed one week prior to start.
• Joint Commission CORE exam within the last year.

Additional Notes

• Skills checklist will be provided by the agency for clinical contractors.
• All required documents and verifications must be uploaded to the credentialing system prior to onboarding.
• Candidate must be willing to work every other weekend and holiday and float between campuses as needed.
