Registered Nurse – Skilled Nursing Unit
Location: Glendale, California
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a Skilled Nursing Unit within an acute hospital setting. The role involves providing nursing care to patients with pulmonary diagnoses requiring oxygen, Alzheimer's, and dementia.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Skilled Nursing (2 years of experience)
- Skilled Nursing experience within the last year
- Prior SNF or Subacute experience
- Experience in a Long Term Care setting
- Experience in a Post Acute setting
- ACLS
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
Work Environment & Patient Care
- Facility type: Skilled Nursing Unit with semi-private rooms
- Common patient diagnoses: Pulmonary conditions requiring oxygen, Alzheimer's, Dementia
- Patient care duties include medication administration, wound care, trach care, and IV care (no titratable drips)
- Respiratory therapy supports stable vents and trach care; oxygen therapy and equipment (CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow) available on-site
- No telemetry monitors; RNs do not read strips
- Interdisciplinary team includes PT/OT/SLP, pulmonary or cardiac rehab, case managers, social workers, and dieticians
- Physician available after hours
- Pharmacy and medication dispensing system on-site
Staffing & Ratios
- RN to patient ratio: 1:5
- Support staff includes LPNs and CNAs
- Respiratory therapists available on-site 24/7
Scheduling & Shifts
- 12-hour day shifts
- Approximately 36 hours per week
- Weekend and holiday work required
- No self-scheduling or block scheduling
- Floating to acute rehab unit required
- Unit-specific orientation provided
Additional Information
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs and LPNs; forest green for CNAs
- Use of PAPR and N95 respirators required
- RNs attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehab
- House supervisor available on unit
This position is ideal for RNs with solid skilled nursing experience looking for a travel contract in a hospital-based skilled nursing unit.
