Schedule
- Days, 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend
- Floating between PCU, Tele, and Med Surg
- Schedule is published 6 weeks out, with assignments provided 2 hours before shift start
Required Qualifications
- Active state RN license
- 2 years of experience in med/tele
- 1 year of PCU experience
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
- Must be comfortable managing titratable drips, including heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 2 attempts before signing the contract
Unit Details
- Float pool assignment across MedSurg Tele and PCU
- May care for patients in ED holding areas
- Common patient types include geriatric, ortho, post-procedural, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: PCU 1:4; MedSurg Tele 1:5-6
- Charge nurse does not take assignments
- Nurse aides are used in all settings
Additional Notes
- Must be flexible
- No call or standby requirement
- Solid color professional scrubs currently; navy scrubs later per dress code update
- Orientation includes general hospital orientation plus unit-specific shifts on MedTele and PCU
