Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Newark, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide comprehensive care independently across all phases of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn care.
  • Experience required in LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) and Newborn Nursery.
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM).
  • Weekend coverage: Rotating every other weekend.
  • On-call duties required.
  • Floating within skillset required.
  • First-time travelers accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients.
  • Experience working with Neonate patients.
  • Experience in an Acute Care setting.
  • LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience.
  • Nursery experience.
  • Certification requirements:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support).
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by the American Heart Association.
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Health and Compliance Requirements

Candidates must complete the following within 5 days of contract signing:

  • Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually).
  • Fit mask test (annual, specific acceptable mask types).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year).
  • Immunizations or positive titers for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season.
  • Snellen eye exam (within 1 year).
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required.

Background and Verification Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • 7-year criminal background check (felony checks) within 3 months of start.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and updated monthly.
  • Education verification from primary source required (transcripts/diplomas if no verification on file).
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
  • Employment application and work history verification required.
  • References: 2 within last 3 years (required for direct hire candidates).

Additional Information

  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exams as required.
  • Color blindness testing required once.
  • Photo for badge must be a clear, passport-style photo with a solid background.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification may be required depending on unit description.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

Schedule and Workload

  • 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours each).
  • Night shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM.
  • Rotating weekend coverage every other weekend.
  • On-call and floating responsibilities within skillset.
