Description

PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

Travel/contract role in Burlington, North Carolina
Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
36 hours per week
Contract length: 13 weeks
Weekend rotation and holidays as needed

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
NIHSS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

Previous Charge RN experience
NIH Stroke Certification
Experience using rapid response teams

Clinical Focus

Cardiac progressive care with emphasis on CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP

Key Skills

Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
Telemetry monitoring
Pre/post cardiac cath care
Peripheral line and PICC line management
Cardiac and vasoactive drip management
Procedural sedation administration
Chest tube management
CPAP/BiPAP support
Tracheostomy management

Scheduling / Unit Notes

Self-scheduled in 6-week blocks
Ratios are typically 1:5; may be 1:4 with drips/BiPAP
Nurse assistants are available 24/7
RN secretary coverage is available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
First-time travelers are accepted
