Description

PCU Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Burlington, North Carolina
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Weekend rotation and holidays as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Charge RN experience
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Experience using rapid response teams

Clinical Focus

  • Cardiac progressive care with emphasis on CHF, ACS, arrhythmias, pre/post cardiac catheterization, rule-out MI, syncope, and pacemaker placement
  • Secondary focus on respiratory conditions such as COPD, pneumonia, and BiPAP

Key Skills

  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Pre/post cardiac cath care
  • Peripheral line and PICC line management
  • Cardiac and vasoactive drip management
  • Procedural sedation administration
  • Chest tube management
  • CPAP/BiPAP support
  • Tracheostomy management

Scheduling / Unit Notes

  • Self-scheduled in 6-week blocks
  • Ratios are typically 1:5; may be 1:4 with drips/BiPAP
  • Nurse assistants are available 24/7
  • RN secretary coverage is available from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM
  • First-time travelers are accepted
