Surgical Technologist
Overview
- Contract role in San Rafael, California
- Employment type: Contract
- Hours: 24 per week
- Shift: variable start/variable stop; no weekends, no holidays, no call
- Ambulatory surgery center setting
- Ophthalmology skills are required
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Graduate of an approved course for OR Surgical Technologists
- Minimum of one year related experience or training in a clinical setting
- Surgical scrub experience in an ambulatory surgery facility
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Surgical Technician (CST)
Role Responsibilities
- Assists the surgical team during operative procedures
- Prepares the surgical suite, supplies, and equipment
- Maintains sterile technique and infection control standards
- Assists with patient preparation, transfers, counting procedures, room turnover, cleanup, transporting, and positioning
- Passes instruments, anticipates surgeon needs, and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis
- Participates in time-out, safety, quality, and incident documentation processes
