PCU Registered Nurse
Overview
- Location: Redding, California
- Setting: Hospital-based PCU / step-down unit
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts
- Hours: 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in California
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with arterial and CVP pressure lines
- Experience titrating pressors
- Experience with precedex
- Experience with tracheostomy and stable vented patients
Unit Details
- 14-bed PCU / step-down unit
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3
- Common patient types include ICU stepdown, TBI/trauma, major surgery, CEA, and sepsis
- Training includes telemetry and high-risk medications
Schedule and Work Expectations
- 3 shifts per week
- 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
- Holiday coverage follows the permanent staff rotation
- First to float to Tele or MedSurg
- Self-scheduling is mostly available
Additional Notes
- Open to first-time travelers
- COVID vaccine required
- Holiday RTO will be considered but is not guaranteed
- Navy blue scrubs required
