PCU Registered Nurse

Location

• Grand Island, Nebraska

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week guaranteed
• 12-hour night shifts

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of unit experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver’s license required at submittal
• Must be outside the 50-mile radius rule
• Cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity

Unit Details

• Stepdown/PCU setting
• 33 beds
• Typical patient population includes young adults through geriatrics
• Common conditions include sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, DKA, and multisystem failure
• RN must read and interpret telemetry strips
• RN titrates drips
• Charge nurse is present on each shift
• CNAs are available
• Respiratory support equipment includes BiPAP and Airvo
• Floating may be required to MedSurg, Inpatient Rehab, or Skilled Care

Schedule

• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as needed to meet unit needs
• Travelers are scheduled by unit schedulers

Orientation

• First week classroom orientation, followed by 2 unit shifts

Additional Notes

• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• RNs must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
• Strong teamwork, a positive attitude, bedside report, and hourly rounding are emphasized
• RTO must be submitted upfront; no additional RTO will be approved
