Shift: Night shift, 1900–0730; 2 x 12-hour shifts per week; weekend rotation

Role Summary

Provides nursing care for maternal and newborn patients and may also cross-train to care for Med Surg/EICU patients when needed.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Wisconsin
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
• 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience
• C-EFM
• AWHONN

Required Certifications

• AHA BLS within 1 month of hire
• NRP within 6 months of hire
• ALSO within 1 year of hire
• STABLE within 1 year of hire
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring within 1 year of hire

Key Clinical Responsibilities

• Complete nursing histories, assess patients, and develop individualized plans of care
• Triage patient care based on symptoms
• Administer medications
• Assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening
• Respond to obstetric emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa
• Perform and interpret fetal heart monitoring
• Manage pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes
• Assess newborns, recognize when higher-level care is needed, and monitor for complications such as hypoglycemia, hypothermia, and jaundice
• Perform neonatal resuscitation within scope of practice and certification
• Recognize and manage neonatal sepsis
• Educate patients and support involvement in newborn care
• Communicate patient status changes promptly to the care team
