Description

Registered Nurse — Arizona

Overview

  • Location: Prescott, Arizona
  • Setting: Float pool covering Med Surg Tele, PCU, and related inpatient holding areas across two campuses
  • Shift: Days, 12 hours
  • Hours per week: 36
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Current state RN license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • 2 years of experience in med/tele
  • 1 year of PCU experience
  • Ability to interpret telemetry strips
  • Ability to manage titratable drips, including heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Floating between PCU, Tele, and Med Surg
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays included in the regular staff rotation
  • Schedule is set by the scheduler and published 6 weeks in advance
  • Travelers must be flexible
  • Nurses are notified 2 hours before shift start by text message

Unit Details

  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Nurse aides are used in all settings
  • Monitor techs cover PCU and Med Surg Tele
  • Common patient types include geriatric, orthopedic, post-cath, post-MI, and CABG post-op patients
  • Respiratory support may include CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow in PCU

Orientation

  • 8-hour general hospital orientation
  • 12-hour orientation shifts on West Med Tele and PCU at West
  • East campus orientation is similar and smaller in scale
