ICU RN Travel Contract
Location
- Chesapeake, Virginia
Assignment Details
- Travel/contract role in the ICU
- Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- Every other weekend, floating, and holidays are required
- 48-hour contracts are available
- Longer assignments through January 9, 2027 are available
- Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
- Typical patient ratio: 1:2–3
Floating
- Must be willing to float to stepdown
- Must be willing to float to the emergency department or medical-surgical units to care for ICU patients being held
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Virginia
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Strong neuro critical care experience
- Ventilator management
- Conscious sedation
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Stepdown experience
- ED - Emergency Department experience
- Med Surg experience
- Experience with Epic
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIH Stroke Scale
- NIH Stroke Certification
Required Skills
- Ventilator management
- IV drip titration
- Telemetry monitoring
- Conscious sedation
- Dysrhythmia recognition and management
- Emergency response and critical care management
Compliance and Submission Requirements
- No license or background hits will be considered
- Local RN candidates living within 50 miles are not eligible
- Submission must include a completed cover sheet
- Submission must include a current NURSYS report
- Submission must include all requested time off
- Government-issued photo ID is required
- Two references are required
- A complete application or resume is required
- A unit-specific skills checklist is required
- A passport-style photo is required before start
- A vehicle registration form is required before start
- A physical exam statement is required within 12 months of start
- A negative TB test or chest X-ray is required within 1 year of start
- A negative 10-panel drug screen is required within 12 months of start
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption is required by 10/31
- COVID vaccination is preferred, but not required
