Location

Silverdale, Washington

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day and evening shifts
  • Every other weekend
  • Must work holidays in November and December
  • No call or standby requirement
  • No floating

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Washington or a compact license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • TNCC
  • PALS or ENPC
  • 2 full years of ER experience
  • Experience in a larger trauma setting may be accepted with 1 year of experience

Unit Details

  • Emergency department with approximately 170–200 patients per day
  • 56 beds, with hall beds increasing capacity to 60–70
  • Separate triage area
  • 18 inpatient-hold beds within the ED
  • Locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms for psych/seclusion
  • In-house security
  • Common patient types include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health

Clinical Support

  • ED physicians and mid-levels on site
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor on site
  • ED techs and CNAs available for 1:1 sitters
  • Radiology department adjacent to the ED
  • Transport assists with patient movement as available
  • Nurse or ED tech primarily draws labs; lab assists when needed
  • RT manages ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow equipment and completes ABGs
  • Monitor techs on unit

Orientation

  • First 2 weeks: orientation/education hours are not guaranteed
  • Unit orientation includes compliance, policies, education, and training on day 1, followed by department orientation on day 2

Dress Code

  • Any professional colors

Additional Notes

  • Epic is used on the unit
  • Travelers may be assigned to triage after testing
  • Extra shifts may be available but are not required
  • No RTO will be considered for the first full week of the assignment
