CVICU RN

Location: Great Falls, Montana
Employment Type: Contract
Shift: Night shift
Hours per Week: 36
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Role Summary

Provide care for critically ill cardiac patients in a cardiovascular intensive care setting, including immediate post–open-heart recovery and other higher-acuity cardiac and medical-surgical patients. The role includes direct patient care from admission through discharge, discharge planning, and acting as a clinical leader who assists with precepting staff.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Montana
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS
  • CVICU (2 years of experience)
  • CVICU experience within the last year
  • Recent open heart recovery nurse experience
  • Recent critical care experience

Preferred Experience

  • Critical care experience
  • CVICU experience
  • Open-heart experience

Clinical Setting

  • 10-bed ICU unit
  • Hospital with 36 licensed inpatient beds and 10 ICU beds
  • Cardiac medical-surgical/progressive care environment

Key Patient Care Areas

  • Hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable cardiac patients
  • Pre- and post-PCI care
  • Pacemaker care
  • Revascularization
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Thoracotomy
  • CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis
  • General medical and surgical patients

Equipment / Clinical Skills

  • Central lines
  • Chest tubes
  • Nasogastric tubes
  • Continuous bladder irrigation
  • A-lines
  • Multiple IVs and IV pumps
  • Noninvasive and invasive ventilatory support
  • Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation
