Registered Nurse — Progressive Care Unit, Nights

Job Overview

Contract role in Carbondale, Illinois
Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
36 hours per week
Patient ratio: 4:1 on progressive care unit patients
Every other weekend and holidays
No on-call requirement
Overtime is available
Block schedules are not guaranteed, but preferred scheduling may be accommodated

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Illinois
PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
BLS
ACLS
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Setting

Progressive care unit
Cares for a wide variety of cardiac and respiratory patients

Key Responsibilities

Assess patients’ mental, physical, and spiritual needs
Plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the multidisciplinary team
Provide explanations and instructions to patients or responsible persons
Recognize and report changes in patient condition using nursing clinical judgment
Support a healthy workplace environment through professional communication and conflict management
Meet core measure responsibilities related to patient care
Participate in continuing education
Maintain complete and accurate medical records

Manager is accessible and visible to night shift staff regularly
