Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Omaha, Nebraska

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 36 hours per week guaranteed

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • 2 years of recent ICU/unit experience
  • Driver’s license required at submittal
  • Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips

Unit Details

  • Med Surg ICU
  • Adults and pediatric patients over 15 years old
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:1–2 in ICU, 1:4–5 in PCU, and 1:5–6 in Med Surg
  • Charge nurse present on each shift
  • Patient care tech support available
  • RNs titrate drips
  • Floating required to all inpatient units except Maternity and NICU

Schedule and Work Conditions

  • Schedule is set by management based on unit needs
  • Weekend requirement: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirement: 2 of 3 major holidays or as needed based on unit needs
  • 2 shifts of unit-specific orientation
  • Navy blue scrubs
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas

Interview / Selection Notes

  • Interview with unit leaders
  • Pass/fail open-book exam during orientation; 90% required to pass

Additional Notes

  • Fast-paced unit with high patient volume
  • Candidates must live outside 50 miles
  • Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
  • RTO must be submitted upfront; up to 7 days total per 13-week contract
