ICU Registered Nurse
Location
- Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Length
- 16 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour nights
- Every other weekend
- Self-scheduling is available for core staff; travelers are added in
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must be able to pass a pass/fail open-book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher
Clinical Expectations
- ICU nursing
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
- May float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
- May care for adult patients with trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
Unit Details
- 33 beds
- Average daily census of 16
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3 for adults
Additional Notes
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
- At least 2 holidays must be worked during the contract
- Up to 7 days of requested time off is needed upfront for a 13-week contract; additional time off is not approved
