Required Qualifications

• Active ACLS and BLS certification
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts before signing the contract
• Must have good EKG reading skills
• Must be able to interpret ABGs
• Must be able to titrate drips
• Must be able to read their own telemetry strips
• Must be able to work all areas of the unit
• Must be able to troubleshoot and help wean ventilators
• Must be familiar with GlideScope use during intubation
• Must have experience with IABP and Prismaflex CRRT preferred
• Must have experience with fresh open heart patients if assigned to those cases

Schedule Requirements

• 4 weekend shifts per pay period
• Some holidays required
• May be placed on call if census is low

Floating

• Floats with core staff
• May float to PCU, MST, and EC ICU/PCU

Unit Details

• No nurse aides on the unit
• Intensivists are in house 24/7 on the West campus
• Respiratory therapy covers all areas, but not the ICU 24/7
• No tele/monitor techs on the unit

Orientation

• 8 hours of general hospital orientation
• 1 unit shift with a preceptor
• 1 unit shift with a buddy for questions

Dress Code

• Any color professional scrubs
• No camo scrubs
