Description

Registered Nurse — Float Pool

Location

  • Prescott, Arizona

Assignment Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • No call or standby requirement
  • Travelers are notified 2 hours before shift start by text message
  • Schedule is published 6 weeks out, in 4-week blocks

Role Overview

  • Float between Med Surg Tele, PCU, and related inpatient holding areas across both campuses
  • First to float

Required Qualifications

  • Current state RN license
  • 2 years of med/tele experience
  • 1 year of PCU experience
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Must be able to interpret telemetry strips
  • Must be comfortable managing titratable drips
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 2 attempts before signing the contract

Clinical Setting

  • Geriatric, orthopedic, post-procedural, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and CABG post-op patients
  • PCU nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
  • Med Surg Tele nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6

Unit Details

  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Nurse aides are used in all settings
  • Monitor techs monitor PCU and Med Surg Tele
  • Respiratory support may include CPAP, BiPAP, and heated high flow in PCU; CPAP or BiPAP at night in Med Surg

Dress Code

  • Solid-color professional scrubs
  • Navy scrubs required starting in October

Orientation

  • 8-hour general hospital orientation
  • 12-hour shift on West Med Tele
  • 12-hour shift on West PCU

Additional Notes

  • Radius rule: 50 miles
  • Candidates may not have been full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated CommonSpirit facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year
