Description

Neuro ICU RN

Location

Phoenix, Arizona

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • 2 years of ICU experience in a large facility (450+ beds)
  • Level 1 Trauma experience
  • EVD experience
  • Strong neuro assessment skills
  • ICP monitoring experience

Experience Notes

  • 18 months of Neuro ICU experience may be considered if the candidate has less than 2 years of experience in the specialty
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Schedule / Work Expectations

  • Weekly orientations on Mondays, except during holiday weeks
  • May be placed on standby for a scheduled shift
  • 4 total weekend shifts per 4 weeks
  • Holidays are worked into the core staff rotation
  • May float to MS Tele / Tele floors and possibly other ICU/MS/Tele areas

Unit Details

  • 32-bed Neuro ICU
  • 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Charge nurse does not take patients
  • Ventilators available
  • RT and pharmacy available 24/7
  • Cerner EMR
  • Phillips monitors

Additional Requirements / Conditions

  • Must complete a dysrhythmia exam before acceptance
  • Must pass a day 1 pass/fail exam
  • SIMs Lab is required for most RNs and is pass/fail
  • Cannot work another assignment/contract at the same time
  • Must have been away from CommonSpirit for 12 months as permanent staff to be considered
  • Must have their own vehicle if traveling as a team
  • Must have natural hair color and no facial piercings
  • Men must be clean shaven for fit testing
  • Onboarding must be complete by 1 pm CST on the Wednesday before start
  • Candidates should be comfortable with teaching-hospital expectations, including nursing students
