Schedule

  • Nights
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holiday rotation with permanent staff
  • Standby response time: 45 minutes

Required Qualifications

  • Active Washington RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP
  • 2 years of experience
  • LDRP experience
  • Able to attend deliveries independently
  • Able to circulate in C-sections
  • Able to assist with catching and transitioning newborns
  • Able to titrate drips

Assignment Details

  • Mother Baby and postpartum function as one unit
  • No floating outside the department
  • No floating to NICU
  • Labor travelers must also function in postpartum with routine mother and baby competencies
  • Labor travelers must be able to transition babies and attend low-risk deliveries
  • Must be comfortable with high-risk obstetric patients, including preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychosocial/substance-use-related needs

Unit Environment

  • 13 L&D beds
  • 2 OR suites for C-sections
  • 2 triage beds
  • 14 postpartum beds
  • Average volume: 170–190 births per month
  • Ratios: 1:2 for L&D and 1:3–4 for couplets
  • 24/7 in-house OB/GYN hospitalist
  • 24/7 in-house NNP
  • 24/7 OB anesthesia provider
  • One surgical tech available 24/7
  • Patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift
  • RT support typically assigned to family birth
  • Tele/monitor tech support for PACU after C-section

Additional Information

  • Pending Washington license is acceptable for submission
  • No first-time travelers
  • Block scheduling available when requested
  • Scrubs and a locker are provided
  • Unit orientation includes compliance education, an EPIC class, and unit-specific shifts
