Description

Registered Nurse — ICU Float Pool

Location

  • Centennial, Colorado

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • Nights
  • 36 hours per week
  • 12-hour shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • 2 years of ICU experience
  • Comfortable titrating critical drips
  • Able to read and interpret telemetry strips
  • Able to assist with respiratory needs and troubleshooting
  • Able to float across ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele
  • Able to float throughout a 60-mile zone
  • Able to work in Colorado for the week of orientation

Schedule and Work Expectations

  • Schedule is released 4–6 weeks in advance
  • May be assigned to a single facility for the week or receive a just-in-time assignment 1–2 hours before shift start
  • 6–9 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule
  • May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
  • Rare call or standby for low census
  • Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill gaps in permanent scheduling
  • Time-off requests must be submitted before the assignment starts
  • Cannot miss more than 3 shifts in the 13-week contract
  • Must give 2 weeks’ notice to avoid a back-out penalty fee

Unit Details

  • ICU float pool covering mixed ICU settings
  • Typical patient ratios: 1:1 to 1:2, with possible flex to 1:3
  • High-acuity patients may include CRRT, IABP, and Impella
  • No nurse aides; sitter support only
  • No monitor techs

Floating and Coverage

  • Must float within Zone 3
  • Zone 3 includes facilities in Lakewood, Longmont, and Westminster
  • No home base facility
  • Housing must allow coverage across the full 60-mile zone

Orientation

  • 1–2 days with a preceptor
  • Week of orientation must be completed in state

Dress Code

  • Any color scrubs

Hiring Process

  • Interview with the clinical team only
  • No unit manager involvement
