Description

Registered Nurse

Location

  • Prescott, Arizona

Contract

  • 13 weeks
  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours per week

Specialty

  • Float pool covering ICU, MedSurg Tele, and PCU

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN role
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • At least 1 year of ICU experience
  • Must pass a dysrhythmia exam within 2 attempts before signing the contract
  • Must be able to titrate drips
  • Must be able to interpret telemetry strips

Schedule Requirements

  • Every other weekend
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • May be placed on standby for a 12-hour shift when staffing is excessive
  • Schedule is published 6 weeks in advance for 4 weeks at a time
  • Must be flexible with floating between campuses and units

Unit Details

  • Float assignments may include ICU, MedSurg Tele, PCU, and inpatient holds in the ED
  • Nurse aides are available
  • Charge nurse does not take assignments
  • Monitor techs cover PCU and MedSurg Tele

Clinical Experience

  • Common patient types include geriatric, orthopedic, post-cardiac cath, post-MI, CABG post-op day 3–4, and groin-site care in stepdown
  • Common drips include heparin, Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, and insulin

Equipment

  • CPAP and BiPAP used at night in MedSurg
  • BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high-flow used in PCU

Orientation

  • 8-hour general hospital orientation
  • 12-hour shift on West MedTele
  • 12-hour shift on West PCU
  • East campus orientation is similar and smaller

Dress Code

  • Solid-color professional scrubs
  • Navy scrubs required starting in October
