Medical Surgical Nurse
Job Overview
- Location: Dothan, Alabama
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day, 4x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Hours per week: 48
- Block scheduling may be accommodated
- Ratios: 1:6–7
- Unit notes: Ortho unit with medical-surgical/tele overflow; may require cardiac drips at times
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alabama
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Med Surg (1 year of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
- NIHSS
- Proficiency with cardiac drips including Cardizem, Tridil, and Amiodarone
Preferred Qualifications
- ACLS
Compliance and Onboarding
- Must provide a driver’s license/state ID that matches the name on the RN license
- Must provide a Social Security card or last four digits of SSN
- Must complete employment eligibility verification
- Background check and education verification required
- Must complete required facility orientation documents and modules before orientation
- Must submit a badge photo within 72 hours of signing
- Must complete the APS Registry clearance process before orientation
- Proof of renewal is required before start for any license expiring during the assignment
Health Requirements
- Physical exam
- Fit test
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- TB questionnaire
- Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B documentation
- Drug screening
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption, if starting on or after 9/15
- COVID vaccination is voluntary
Additional Notes
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Previous permanent staff are ineligible for travel for 10 years
