Schedule
- 12-hour day shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Scheduled based on unit needs
- Every other weekend required
- Must be flexible with scheduling; self-scheduling is not available
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- 3+ years of experience
- Prior travel experience
- Experience in a very busy hospital
- Must be open to floating
- EPIC familiarity
Clinical Expectations
- Manage critically ill surgical ICU patients
- Titrate drips
- Perform hemodynamic monitoring
- Manage chest tubes, ventilators, and various drains/surgical sites
- Recognize changes in patient condition and escalate appropriately
- Read telemetry strips
- Float to other ICUs within the hospital as needed
Unit Details
- 12 beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 or 1:3
- Intensivist support is available 24/7
- Respiratory therapy is available 24/7
- No telemetry techs on the unit
- Charge nurse may take a full assignment depending on staffing
- Nursing assistants/patient care techs are intermittent
Dress Code
- Teal bottoms
- Black or printed coordinating scrub top
- No fleece jackets
- No shellac, dip, or acrylic nails
- Unchipped regular nail polish is allowed
