Position Overview:

As a Surgical Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting surgical procedures across various specialties, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and a seamless operative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare operating rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a sterile environment throughout surgeries.
- Handle and maintain surgical instruments and equipment, including sterilization and organization.
- Support in the setup and breakdown of surgical cases, ensuring all documentation is accurately completed.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other OR personnel to facilitate smooth operations.
- Participate in maintaining compliance with hospital policies and safety standards.
Required Certifications & Licenses:
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)
- BLS Certification (Basic Life Support)
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of acute care experience, demonstrating proficiency in surgical settings, or equivalent hybrid OR experience if applicable.
- Ability to scrub and circulate for a variety of surgical procedures, including cardiovascular, neuro, ortho, and general surgeries.
- Strong knowledge of sterile techniques, surgical instruments, and OR protocols.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.
- Adaptability to fast-paced, high-pressure environments typical of Level I Trauma Centers.
- Experience with EPIC EMR systems is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams, showing professionalism and effective communication.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional post-secondary education in surgical technology or related healthcare fields is preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in an acute care or surgical environment.
- Experience with hybrid OR procedures and Siemens equipment is a strong plus.
- Prior exposure to trauma, vascular, neuro, and cardiac surgeries enhances candidacy.
Support Within the Department:
You'll work alongside a team led by experienced charge nurses, resource nurses, surgeons, educators, and support staff, all committed to patient safety and operational excellence. Support staff like ANMs and EPIC super-users are available to ensure smooth workflows.
Technology & Equipment:
- EMR: EPIC
- IV Pumps: Alaris
- Med Dispensing: Pyxis
- Imaging & surgical tools specific to hybrid procedures, including Siemens equipment.
Orientation & Scheduling Details:
- Orientation includes meetings with educators and ANMs, EPIC training, and unit acclimation.
- 6-week schedule, with shifts assigned based on rotation.
- No self-scheduling; shifts are assigned to meet departmental needs.
- Weekend rotation every 4th weekend (Saturday-Sunday).
- Shifts vary between 8-12 hours, including days, evenings, and overnight options.
- Support for holiday coverage and on-call responsibilities with a 30-minute response time.
