Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Facility: Heywood Hospital

Location: Gardner, MA

Client: Heywood Healthcare Family

Contract Length: 13 Weeks

Start Date: ASAP (Off-cycle starts accepted)

Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week (No guaranteed hours per contract)

Schedule: Rotating weekends and holidays

Job Description

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Heywood Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across a variety of clinical settings. The Respiratory Therapist will assess, treat, educate, and monitor patients with cardiopulmonary disorders while collaborating with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver exceptional patient care.

This position requires experience with ventilator management, respiratory treatments, arterial blood gases (ABGs), pulmonary diagnostics, emergency response, and patient education.

Responsibilities

Assess patients' respiratory status and develop individualized respiratory care plans.

Administer respiratory therapy treatments and oxygen therapy.

Obtain and analyze arterial blood gases (ABGs).

Perform pulse oximetry and pulmonary function testing following ATS standards.

Set up, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP devices.

Monitor patient response and recommend treatment modifications.

Perform EKGs and ensure quality recordings.

Assist physicians during bronchoscopy procedures.

Administer respiratory medications according to physician orders.

Educate patients and families regarding respiratory diseases, medications, and equipment.

Implement and monitor VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia) prevention protocols.

Document patient assessments, treatments, and outcomes accurately in Meditech.

Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

Requirements

Required Experience

Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapy experience.

Acute care hospital experience.

Mechanical ventilation experience.

ABG collection and interpretation.

Experience with BiPAP and CPAP.

Basic computer skills.

Education

Graduate of a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy Program.

Licensure & Certifications

Active Massachusetts Respiratory Therapist License.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).

BLS (typically expected for hospital RTs even if not listed in submission requirements).

ACLS.

PALS.

NRP.
Patterns Hiring Job ID #297584-26. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
