Description

Echo Sonographer – Cardiology
Location: York, ME
Facility: York Hospital
Contract: 13 Weeks
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: 40 hours/week guaranteed
Weekend Call: 1 weekend every 4 weeks | Saturday & Sunday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Job Description

The Echo Sonographer will support the Cardiology team by performing high-quality adult echocardiography studies and providing accurate diagnostic information for physician interpretation. The technologist will prepare patients and equipment, explain procedures, obtain diagnostic-quality images, maintain accurate records, and provide safe, compassionate patient care.

Responsibilities
Perform adult echocardiography examinations according to hospital protocols and standards.
Perform Transthoracic Echo (TTE), Stress Echo, and Transesophageal Echo (TEE).
Prepare patients and diagnostic equipment for procedures.
Explain procedures and answer patient questions.
Obtain and archive high-quality diagnostic images.
Assist physicians with image/data interpretation as appropriate.
Monitor equipment and technology performance.
Maintain accurate documentation and study records.
Follow infection control, safety, and quality standards.
Maintain exam rooms, equipment, supplies, and inventory.
Collaborate with cardiologists, providers, and other healthcare team members.
Provide patient education and maintain patient comfort and safety.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of experience.
Proficiency in Adult Echocardiography, including TTE, Stress Echo, and TEE.
ARDMS or CCI cardiac sonography registry required/preferred (R.D.C.S. or R.C.S.).
BLS/BCLS required or must obtain within the preliminary employment period.
Active required credentials/license must be maintained.
Strong communication, organization, multitasking, and teamwork skills.
