Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Director of Operating Room to provide interim leadership for its Surgical Services department. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Operating Room, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care while leading clinical staff, managing departmental resources, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in perioperative leadership, operational management, staff development, and performance improvement within a hospital surgical services environment.

Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and supervision for Operating Room nurses, surgical technologists, and support staff.
Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and evaluate departmental personnel.
Coordinate daily OR scheduling, room assignments, staffing, and workflow to maximize efficiency.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and hospital leadership to ensure seamless surgical operations.
Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, equipment utilization, and supply purchasing.
Monitor productivity, staffing levels, and operational performance to improve patient outcomes.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, CMS regulations, infection prevention practices, and sterile processing guidelines.
Promote patient safety initiatives, quality improvement programs, and evidence-based perioperative practices.
Participate in strategic planning, policy development, and departmental performance initiatives.
Provide leadership support during emergency situations and participate in on-call responsibilities as required.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of Director of Operating Room experience
Active Michigan license (required at submission)
BLS (AHA) certification required
Strong experience in perioperative operations, staffing, budgeting, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills
