Samaritan Medical Center | Watertown, NY | Oct 19, 2026 – Jan 20, 2027 | 13 Weeks | Day Shift
Seeking an experienced Histotechnologist for a 13-week travel assignment at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown, NY. The ideal candidate will have strong histology experience and be skilled in tissue processing, embedding, sectioning, and staining of surgical and autopsy specimens.
Position Highlights:
• 40 hours/week guaranteed
• 8-hour day shifts
• Start times: 5:30 AM or 6:00 AM
• 13-week travel assignment
• No on-call requirement
• No floating required
• Travel candidates only
• 100-mile radius rule applies
• Prior travel experience not required
• Department: SAM-Lab Clinical
• Facility: Samaritan Medical Center
Key Duties:
• Process, embed, cut, and stain surgical and autopsy tissue
• Prepare and stain cytopathology specimens
• Prepare microscopic sections for Pathologist examination
• Perform specialized histological techniques for diagnostic purposes
• Properly handle and manage patient tissue specimens
• Maintain accurate specimen and laboratory documentation
• Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
• Participate in Quality Assurance activities
• Follow established laboratory policies and procedures
• Ensure accurate and timely specimen processing
Requirements:
✔ 2+ years of recent histology experience required
✔ Histotechnician AAS required
✔ Active New York State license required
✔ Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or related field OR HTL certification from a recognized agency
✔ Strong experience with tissue processing, embedding, cutting, and staining
✔ Experience with surgical and autopsy specimens preferred
✔ Ability to perform specialized histological techniques
✔ Travel candidates only
✔ Must meet the 100-mile radius rule
✔ Prior travel experience not required

Patterns Hiring Job ID #806-0925. Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
