Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Informatics Specialist III – RN to serve as a vital liaison between clinical units and the Information Technology department at EvergreenHealth Medical Center. In this role, you will analyze, evaluate, implement, and optimize clinical applications across acute, ambulatory, and home care settings to ensure seamless workflow integration, regulatory compliance, and enhanced patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical & IT Liaison: Collaborate with IT leadership and healthcare teams to translate clinical needs into technical specifications and system designs.
  • EMR & System Implementation: Lead and support the evaluation, acquisition, development, training, and ongoing support for Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems (Epic) and related clinical applications (e.g., patient registries, CPOE, PACS).
  • Workflow Optimization: Perform detailed workflow analyses of multidisciplinary activities to design and implement optimal documentation strategies, clinical pathways, and decision-support tools.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit, functional, and integration test plans for application updates and enhancements.
  • Training & End-User Support: Conduct formal and informal training for clinical staff and providers; create end-user documentation, learning aids, and auditing processes to foster software adoption.
  • Change Management: Guide clinicians through process transitions and system updates, providing both on-site and remote support (including participating in a rotating on-call schedule).

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Licensure:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Information Sciences, or a related field (Master’s degree in Clinical Informatics desired).
  • Active Licensed Healthcare Professional credential (RN required).
  • Washington RN License: Active license in hand or eligible for WA temporary license (takes ~2 weeks to process).
Experience:
  • 5+ years of direct clinical experience in an acute care, ambulatory, or home care setting.
  • 4+ years of dedicated experience in a Clinical Informatics role.
  • Epic Certification: Active certification in relevant Epic applications (with expectation to obtain additional certifications as required).
  • Strong background in evaluating and implementing enterprise-wide healthcare informatics systems and standard medical terminology/workflows.
Skills & Knowledge:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong understanding of change management and adult learning principles.
  • Familiarity with project management, quality assurance, IT security standards, privacy laws, and Joint Commission accreditation standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical clinical audiences.
