Position Overview

NuWest is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN for a travel contract opportunity in Los Angeles, California. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to a diverse population in a high-acuity Level I Trauma setting. You will care for patients presenting with conditions including chest pain, syncope, TIA, heart failure exacerbations, asthma and COPD flare-ups, dehydration, abdominal pain, infections requiring short-term monitoring, and minor to moderate traumatic injuries such as head injuries, fractures, and falls. The ideal candidate brings strong emergency nursing skills, the ability to perform rapid assessments, and composure in a fast-paced, high-volume metropolitan trauma environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform rapid, systematic patient assessments and prioritize care based on acuity and clinical presentation
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and monitor for therapeutic response and adverse effects
• Monitor patient conditions continuously and respond effectively to changes in hemodynamic, neurological, and respiratory status
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to coordinate safe, timely, patient-centered care
• Care for patients requiring short-term observation, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment following emergency department assessment
• Recognize and respond to emergent and trauma presentations including moderate traumatic injuries, TIA, and acute cardiopulmonary events
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and responses accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic medical record (EMR)
• Maintain a safe care environment in compliance with infection control, regulatory, and unit safety standards

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent Emergency Room nursing experience in a Level I Trauma institution in a metropolitan setting serving a diverse patient population
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
• NIHSS Certification
• Current MAB or CPI certification
• LA City Fire and Life Safety card (must be LA City)
• LA County Employee Health Clearance must be completed prior to assignment start date
• Must be fully committed to completing an 8-week assignment
• Must be able to pass required background checks and drug screening
