Position Overview

NuWest is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse for a contract-to-hire opportunity at an outpatient opioid treatment program in Auburn, Washington. In this dispensary role, you will safely dispense opioid agonist medication, complete patient assessments, and provide compassionate, evidence-based care. The program pairs medication for opioid use disorder with behavioral health counseling. The ideal candidate is patient-centered, detail-oriented, and organized, and thrives in a fast-paced setting. The nurse reports to the Dispensary Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely dispense appropriate opioid agonist medication doses and account for all medication inventory used during each dispensary shift
• Perform patient assessments and evaluations, and administer medications as ordered by medical providers, in accordance with standards of practice and clinic policy
• Administer and read tuberculosis tests for all patients, and make outside referrals for chest X-rays as needed
• Maintain security of medications, patient records, and documentation required by the DEA, Department of Health, and other licensing agencies
• Document nursing care accurately and timely in the electronic medical records system
• Monitor and organize dispensary activities as directed, and report medication inventory and supply needs to the lead nurse for reordering
• Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and complete required substance use trainings and continuing education
• Rotate onto the Clinic Mobile Unit serving surrounding communities, attend required meetings, and contribute data to patient treatment plans

Required Qualifications

• Current Washington State LPN license
• Minimum 1 year of patient care experience in a clinical setting
• Current BLS certification (or ability to complete within the first three months of hire)
• Must be local to the Auburn, WA area
• Must pass required background checks and drug screening
