Strict 75 mile radius rule from Phoebe Main Campus.
Must have a min of 2 years of Psych experience and 1 travel contract OR 4 years Psych experience w/o travel.

Unit Emergency Psychiatric Services
# beds (Special Care Beds?) There are 4 rooms with chairs that are in a locked area. This nurse would also possibly assess patients with psychiatric concerns in the main emergency department such as when all four rooms are full or when there is someone with psychiatric issues that is not medically stable to be in the area.
Average Daily Census Varies; can see as many as 7 or 8 patients in a shift

Geriatric, Adults, Adolescence, Pediatrics
Certs None at this time; psychiatric experience is definitely needed
Ratios 1:4 for area, again may also see overflow patients in main EC
EMR Meditech

Common diagnosis / Types of patients Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Adjustment D/O, Depression, Suicidal, Homicidal, Aggressive, Intellectual Disabilities, Various Substance Abuse issues, Confusion, Mania
Job Duties Assessing the behavioral health needs for patients that present to the emergency department with various concerns. Presentation may be by EMS, walk-in, family or law enforcement.
Documenting all assessments in the electronic medical record.
Communicating with various providers to determine best outcome for patient, following through with admission to inpatient, finding other placement as needed in other facilities, addressing follow-up appointments for those being discharge, arranging transportation for admissions.
Serves as the resource for the facility with regard to behavioral health patients throughout the facility
Medicating as ordered, to include medication holds
Appropriately documents medication holds and other forms of restraint
Supervises the technician there on shift
Maintains logs for data collection
Manages crisis calls
When visitors are allowed – helps to ensure items are secured
Assists in searching patients
vital signs, blood draws, urine collection, COVID swabs
assists with 15 minute checks
makes child and adult protective services notifications when needed
assist in completion of involuntary paperwork for ED provider
Additional Notes Will have to become familiar with referral sources and the requirements for different facilities
