Travel RN Job Details
- Location: Winston-Salem, NC 27157 (North Carolina travel nursing jobs)
- Facility: Comprehensive Cancer Center – 40 bed Med/Surg Oncology unit
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 9/15/2025 – End: 12/13/2025)
- Shift: 12 hour day shifts (6:30am – 7:00pm), 36 hours per week
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1470 - $1570
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: Travelers work 75% of holidays
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free, on-site parking
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry RN experience (Oncology nursing experience preferred)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification (required for Resource Team)
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) and OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) certifications preferred
- Proficiency in port access, blood product administration, electrolyte management, end-of-life care, pain and symptom management, PIV starts, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Epic EMR experience preferred
Travel RN Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to hematology and oncology patients, including those with leukemia and those requiring comfort or end-of-life care
- Manage patient assignments with a typical RN ratio of 1:4-5, based on acuity
- Perform port access, administer blood products, and manage electrolyte imbalances
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and verify telemetry strips each shift
- Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT teams, and hospitalists to optimize patient outcomes
- Float within the cancer center and to other med-surg units as needed (emergency only)
- Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
- Contribute to a supportive unit culture focused on teamwork, clinical excellence, and professional growth
