Oncology RN Job Details
- Location: Winston-Salem, NC 27157 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
- Facility: Comprehensive Cancer Center – Bone Marrow Transplant Special Care Unit
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (8/25/2025 – 11/22/2025)
- Hours per Week: 40 (full-time travel nurse position)
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (6:30am – 7:00pm), every other weekend rotation
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1860 - $2000
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free, on-site
Oncology RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (North Carolina or compact state)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience (Bone Marrow Transplant experience required for first-time travel nurses)
- BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association)
- Chemo Certification required
- ONS Chemotherapy Administration Certification
- NIHSS certification (Resource Team requirement)
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) or BMTCN (Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse) preferred
Oncology RN Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to oncology and bone marrow transplant patients
- Perform venipuncture, IV insertion, and central line care/access
- Administer chemotherapy and blood product transfusions
- Monitor laboratory values and manage oncology symptoms (nausea, vomiting, mucositis)
- Implement infection prevention protocols and deliver wound/skin care
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team (CNAs, unit secretaries, charge nurses, respiratory therapists)
- Float within the cancer center and to other med-surg units as needed
- Utilize Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
