PCU RN Job Details – Charlotte, NC
- Location: Charlotte, NC 28203 (North Carolina healthcare jobs)
- Facility: Leading teaching hospital, Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma, Chest Pain/Stroke Center
- Unit: Neuro Intermediate Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 19 beds
- Assignment Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
- Start Date: 10/13/2025
- End Date: 1/10/2026
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00pm – 7:00am)
- Hours: 36 hours/week guaranteed
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Holiday Coverage: 75% of holidays during assignment
- Floating: Required within region and scope of practice
- Scrub Color: Navy
- Parking: Free on-site parking
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1680
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state (NC travel nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience, with strong neuro patient care background
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Clinical proficiency in lumbar drains, stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP, flexiseals, foley)
- Experience with medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF, nicardipine drips)
- Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- Ability to float to other facilities within the designated region as needed
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to post-operative neurosurgery patients and those with complex neuro diagnoses (craniotomy, VP shunt, deep brain stimulator, stroke, subdural hematoma)
- Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including telemetry monitoring
- Manage drains, tubes, and medication infusions per hospital protocols
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
- Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
- Float to other units or facilities within the region as required
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC EMR
