ICU Nursing Job Details
- Location: Wausau, WI (zip 54401) – Wisconsin nursing jobs
- Unit: Neuro ICU (8-bed critical care unit)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks – travel nurse assignment
- Start Date: 10/20/2025
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 48 guaranteed (overtime after 48 hours)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2100-$2250
- Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every other weekend and holiday
- Employment Type: Travel ICU Registered Nurse
- Float Requirements: May float between Neuro Critical Care ICU, MSICU, and other critical care nursing units
ICU RN Qualifications
- Associate Degree or Certificate in Nursing required
- Active Wisconsin RN license – required for all Wisconsin healthcare jobs
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (Med/Surg ICU or Neuro ICU with strong neuro assessment skills)
- At least 1 previous travel nurse assignment preferred
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with EVDs and ICP monitoring preferred
- Strong work ethic, adaptability, and ability to manage change
ICU Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality patient care in the Neuro ICU, including care for stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery patients
- Perform comprehensive neuro assessments and bedside ICU procedures (e.g., line placement, intubation)
- Assist with neuro-specific procedures such as bolt and drain placements alongside neurosurgery teams
- Float between Neuro ICU, MSICU, and other critical care units as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC electronic health records
- Demonstrate independence, resilience, and adaptability in a fast-paced critical care environment
