PCU RN Job Details – Columbia, SC
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1680
- Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract (November 10, 2025 – February 9, 2026)
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Care Hospital, Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Shifts: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, as needed
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Charting System: Epic EMR
- Scrub Color: Royal Blue
- Parking: Free parking pass for downtown lots and garages
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Active South Carolina RN license or Multi-State/Compact RN license (must be active before start date)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications required
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification preferred
- Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) required
- Experience managing a 1:4 patient ratio
- Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Ability to float within scope to meet facility needs
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the Progressive Care Unit
- Monitor and manage patients with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and post-surgical conditions
- Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform wound care
- Interpret telemetry and manage cardiac dysrhythmias
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and social services
- Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
- Participate in emergency response, especially during hurricane season (June–November)
- Float to similar nursing units as required
