Oncology RN Job Details
- Location: Albany, Georgia 31701
- Healthcare Setting: Acute Oncology Unit (29 beds)
- Contract Length: 17 weeks (11/17/2025 – 3/16/2026)
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1800
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Rotating with staff
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- EMR System: MEDITECH 6.1
- Orientation: 3 days, floor-specific
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS and ONS certification preferred (ONS required for chemotherapy administration)
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology or medical-surgical nursing experience
- Experience with electronic medical records (MEDITECH preferred)
- Ability to work every other weekend and rotate holidays
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (driver’s license required for verification)
- No first-time travel nurses
Oncology Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to oncology and hematology patients, including those with acute symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and end-of-life needs
- Manage a patient load of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Collaborate with charge nurses, nurse aides, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize central monitoring; telemetry experience helpful (not required to read strips)
- Accurately document patient care in MEDITECH EMR
- Float to medical acute units as needed (rarely)
- Support patients transitioning from outpatient to inpatient oncology care
- Participate in floor-specific orientation and ongoing professional development
