PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Columbus, Ohio (43210) – Ohio nursing jobs
- Unit: 10 Rhodes Transplant (Abdominal Transplant Unit)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Start Date: December 15, 2025
- End Date: March 16, 2026
- Duration: 13-week nursing contract
- Shift: 3x12 hour nights (19:00 - 07:30), weekdays with occasional weekends and rotating holidays
- Hours per Week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
- Setting: On-site, hospital-based clinical support
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience required
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – compact or Ohio state RN license required at time of submission
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (American Heart Association preferred)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record (EHR) system
- Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- Ability to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Two professional references required (at least one from a nurse manager, director, or formal leadership role)
- Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients in the Progressive Care Unit, specializing in abdominal transplant (kidney, liver, pancreas) cases
- Monitor and manage patients with complex diagnoses including transplant recovery, infections, acute kidney injury, uncontrolled diabetes, hepatology, and GI bleeds
- Perform IV starts, telemetry monitoring, and central/peripheral line care
- Utilize Epic for accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology, and pharmacy
- Float to other nursing units within the hospital as needed
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment for patients and families
