Oncology RN Job Details
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – Oncology RN
- Location: Greenville, NC 27834 (Eastern North Carolina healthcare jobs)
- Unit: Cancer Center Medical Oncology (48-bed unit)
- Start Date: November 24, 2025
- End Date: February 24, 2026
- Duration: 13-week travel nurse contract
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1800
- Scheduling: Self-scheduling; 3 out of 4 holidays and 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
- Staffing Ratios: 1:4 RN-to-patient (may flex to 1:5 or 1:6)
- Primary Patient Population: Adults with hematologic/oncologic conditions, immunocompromised, radiation complications, cardiac arrhythmia, complex fluid and medication management
Oncology Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent Oncology RN experience in a hospital or cancer center
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Compact state licenses accepted)
- BLS certification required
- Strong oncology nursing background and phlebotomy skills
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips
- Experience with EPIC EMR (Electronic Medical Records)
- ONS (Oncology Nursing Society) certification preferred
- Must pass EKG and Pharmacy exams during compliance process
- Must reside outside an 80-mile radius of Greenville, NC (North Carolina travel nursing requirement)
Oncology RN Responsibilities
- Administer chemotherapy and manage continuous infusion medications for oncology patients
- Pain management and wound care, including wound vac dressing changes and drain management
- Care for patients with central lines, tracheotomies, and chest tubes
- Perform IV starts, peripheral and arterial blood draws
- Manage intravenous drips (cardiac, insulin, heparin)
- Cardiac monitoring and rhythm analysis (no monitor techs on unit)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team and ancillary staff to deliver comprehensive patient care
- Negotiate all time off prior to assignment confirmation
