Key Job Details – Oncology RN
- Location: Albany, GA 31701 – Southwest Georgia nursing jobs in a friendly community with beautiful parks and vibrant local culture.
- Healthcare Setting: 29-bed Oncology Unit (7th floor, inpatient only)
- Contract Length: 17 weeks (12/8/2025 – 4/6/2026)
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour days (6:45 AM – 7:15 PM)
- Hours: 36 hours per week, every other weekend required
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1800
- Orientation: 3 days floor-specific orientation
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Charting System: MEDITECH 6.1
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS (AHA) certification required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- ONS certification preferred for chemotherapy administration
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience required
- Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
- Must reside at least 75 miles from the facility (per driver's license)
- No first-time travelers
Oncology Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care to oncology and hematology patients, including those with acute symptoms, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, sickle cell crisis, and end-of-life needs
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, administer medications, and perform treatments as ordered
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including charge nurses and nurse aides
- Accurately document care and patient responses in MEDITECH EMR
- Participate in rotating holiday and weekend schedules
- Float to medical acute unit as needed (rarely)
- Support patients transitioning from outpatient to inpatient oncology care
