Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Bangor, ME 04401 (Maine nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Medical Surgical Unit (Med/Tele patients, non-surgical)
- Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN)
- Start Date: December 23, 2025
- End Date: March 21, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7P-7A)
- Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend
- Free Parking: Available in designated areas
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1910 - $2040
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Maine or compact state)
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg RN experience (charge nurse experience highly preferred)
- BLS certification required
- NIHSS and ACLS certifications preferred
- Proficient in reading and interpreting rhythm strips
- Experience with cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone), insulin drips, and heparin drips (training available)
- Strong medical-surgical nursing skills: wound care, IV starts, central line management, trach care, chest tube management, drain/tube management
- Ability to float to other Med/Tele units as needed
- Professional appearance (scrubs: any color; no crocs with holes; no artificial nails)
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients with diverse medical diagnoses (excluding primary cardiac)
- Monitor and manage patients on telemetry
- Administer and titrate cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips as appropriate
- Perform wound care, IV therapy, and manage central lines and chest tubes
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, and therapists
- Float to other medical-surgical or Med/Tele units as needed
- Participate in a supportive work environment with 24/7 resources (RT, hospitalist, house supervisor)
- Document patient care using Cerner electronic charting system
- Maintain effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced healthcare setting
