Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Meridian, Idaho (83642) – Idaho nursing jobs
- Facility Setting: Acute Care, Medical Surgical (Med/Surg), 5th Floor
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/29/2025, End: 2/28/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours guaranteed
- Weekend Requirement: 5 weekend shifts per 6-week period
- Floating: May float between MedSurg 5, MedSurg 6, overflow unit, and similar units at nearby healthcare facilities
- Dress Code: Any color scrubs (clean and professional)
- Orientation: 3 days general orientation (including EPIC EMR training), 2 unit shifts with preceptor
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1780 - $1910
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
- BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
- EKG certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
- EPIC EMR experience required
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips
- Willingness to precept new travel nurses and work with nursing students
- Ability to float to similar Med/Surg units as needed
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care to orthopedic, urology, general surgery, GYN, and medical overflow patients
- Manage nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 (occasionally 1:6)
- Independently monitor and interpret telemetry strips
- Administer medications and manage set-rate drips (heparin, PCAs, morphine drips)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members, including charge nurses, nurse aides, and virtual tele techs
- Mentor and support nursing students and new travel nurses
- Float to other medical-surgical units or similar healthcare settings within the health system as required
- Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
