Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Location: Des Moines, IA (50309) – Iowa nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (45 beds, 2 ORs)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/5/2026 – End: 4/6/2026)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $2200–$2360
• Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Every 3rd weekend & holiday rotation if scheduled
• Employment Type: Travel nursing contract
• Floating: Required across all campuses
• Scrubs: Hospital provided

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting
• At least one completed travel nurse contract in the past 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Active Iowa RN license
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP, AWHONN, EFM
• Ability to float to Mother Baby/Postpartum units as needed
• Submission of work history/resume, skills checklist (completed within 1 year), license verification, required certifications, and references (one supervisory reference from within the last 2 years)

L&D RN Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to high-risk OB, antepartum, c-section, and vaginal delivery patients
• Administer and monitor IV drips including magnesium, insulin, and pitocin
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Float to other campuses and clinical units as required
• Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC EMR
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as scheduled
