• Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Location: Metropolis, IL 62960 (Southern Illinois)
• Employment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
• Start Date: January 1, 2025
• End Date: April 2, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12 Hour Nights; Night Shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (2 nights during the week and every other weekend)
• Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed hours
• Healthcare Setting: Emergency Room (ER)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1880 - $2020

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois or compact state
• At least 1 year of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• ACLS and PALS certifications preferred
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric
• Administer and delegate medication administration as appropriate
• Perform and delegate nursing interventions to ensure safe, effective patient care
• Advocate for patients and evaluate responses to nursing interventions
• Educate patients and families/caregivers on health conditions and care plans
• Supervise LPNs and CNAs to ensure quality clinical support
• Provide trauma care for patients of all ages in the ER
• Serve as house supervisor during night shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Communicate effectively with EMS, 911, ambulance services, and First Responders
• Assess patient acuity and prioritize care in a fast-paced emergency setting
• Reassess patients for changes in condition and conduct follow-up calls as required
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety programs, HIPAA, and infection control standards
• Participate in staff meetings, committees, and ongoing nursing education/training
• Demonstrate initiative, adaptability, and exceptional customer service in all interactions
