Registered Nurse (RN) – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) (Nights)
Location: Saginaw, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours per Day: 12
Job Summary
- Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including ongoing assessment and skilled nursing interventions.
- Administer medications, treatments, patient education, assist with transfers, respond to alarms, and other nursing duties.
- Evaluate effectiveness of treatment plans and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to update care plans.
- Function as a team leader/member and resource, delegating and overseeing support staff.
- Comply with all local, state, federal regulations, and facility policies related to patient care.
- Patient ratio target: 1 nurse to 4-6 patients.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including Neuro PCU experience.
- PCU experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Active National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

- Facility considers local candidates within a 50-mile radius for this 13-week contract.
- The role involves working in a full-service hospital with advanced surgical care, level II trauma center, and comprehensive stroke services.
- The environment supports specialty care including stroke, structural heart, spine, cancer, orthopedics, and women’s health.
- Utilizes robotic-assisted technology and offers respiratory therapy and rehabilitation services.
Summary
This is a night shift, temporary RN position in a Neuro PCU setting requiring at least 2 years of RN experience, specialized PCU skills, and multiple certifications. The role demands strong clinical skills, leadership, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity hospital environment.
